Turkey did not have time to recover after a series of destructive earthquakes, how else it reminded me of a terrible natural phenomenon.





In the center of the country in the province of Konya on the field suddenly a funnel was formed, its depth reaches 15 meters, and its diameter is about 100. Director of the Funnel Research Center of the Technical University Konyi Fetulla Aryk stated that the phenomenon had nothing to do with earthquakes, and the failure appeared only after 20 days. Scientists now they are studying the funnel, and the locals only look at them with sadness.



The fact is that in the province of Konya, people have been live in fear of huge sinkholes that suddenly form in earth. In 2017, there were more than 200 of them, the diameter of which starts from a couple of meters and ends with the size of a small football field.





Dips in the ground are formed in a matter of seconds, and there are in the fields, on the roads, in the villages. Cases have been recorded when agricultural plots went underground before the eyes of farmers.



Scientists have about 30 reasons why these funnels. One of them is carbon dioxide, which is formed during connection of groundwater with carbon dioxide. Over time it dissolves soils where dense limestone, forming a cave underground, and through some time, the soil above the cave collapses.



Another reason is the active use of underground water in agriculture. The absence of full-flowing rivers and a small number precipitation force people to use underground sources. As drainage, caves are formed, the arch of which cannot withstand the weight of the earth over it.



Local residents are strongly advised not to approach such funnels, since after an earthquake the risk of collapse of the walls is very great.
