What will the first lunar visitors in 50 years have to do? Spoiler: to begin with, survive (3 photos)
Very soon (at least on the scale of the Universe) a new mission to the moon is launched. But what will the astronauts do?
So, the specialists of the NASA Orion program said that they would do on the satellite people after disembarkation. Now "Artemis-1" works there collects data to send a crew there.
In particular, the astronauts will face two tasks. First - is to find the best place to set up a camp, and the second is to come up with, how to extract fuel for rockets on the moon so that the satellite will be in the future buffer for longer journeys.
This is what researchers will be doing in the next ten years. The Artemis-1 mission itself, by the way, started on November 16th. AT the first flight she went without a crew with dummies on board, which stuffed with various sensors to determine what will happen to person in such circumstances.
And one of the key objectives of the first mission is a safe return of the Artemis-1 Orion module. It must enter the atmosphere speeds 32 times the speed of sound - about 38 thousand km / h. And the temperature which the body will have to withstand - about 3 thousand degrees Celsius.
The capsule itself is due to land on December 11th. In case everything will be successful, the next mission will fly with the crew. And the third the mission will finally land humans on the moon for the first time since 1972. Besides, there they will live with moon rovers, housing and infrastructure, they say in NASA. So far, the flight is going well.
As a result of all three missions, scientists want to know if there are the south pole of the satellite, water that could be used to rocket fuel. Scientists believe that from the moon, people can in the future to fly to Mars, where, in theory, it will also be very difficult.
