What's That Thing: The Strangest Finds. Issue 215 (14 photos)
Here is a new selection of interesting and incomprehensible things, the owners of which have no idea what they are for. Well, perhaps you are familiar with the post, so we will do without a long preface. We welcome you all and wish you a pleasant viewing.
"A large metal fork with four prongs"
An old fork for cutting meat.
"A plastic thing with a thread and two batteries inside"
It looks a lot like the LED element that attaches to the laces of children's shoes. If you change the batteries, it will most likely start blinking again.
"Mysterious packaging"
Most likely, this is a replacement cartridge for an air freshener. For example, for those that are attached to the ventilation grilles in a car.
"A small but heavy gold-colored metal disc"
This is a C-shaped bracket for attaching a single faucet to the bottom of the sink. If your faucet doesn't wobble, it's old.
"A strange cobalt blue plastic object with a metal element"
It's a mattress lift!
"A metal rod with a cork handle and a cavity at the end"
A removable handle for a fishing rod.
"Wooden furniture with a semi-folding tabletop"
This is a combination of a stool, a seat and a table.
"A plastic handle, and at the end a fan of metal teeth"
This is a comb cleaner.
"Two legs sticking out of the floor in an old house"
These are legs that can rotate and be used as a stand for a mirror.
"A metal object in the shape of a pen with a loop and a ball at the end"
This is necessary in order to remove foreign objects from the eye using a magnet and a loop.
"A heavy gilded thing with a hook on the base"
This is a miniature of a chair by the French designer D.L. Depose.
"A wire cage on a stick with a wooden handle"
It turns out that this is not just a soap dish, but an old device for washing dishes! They put a piece of soap in it, shook it in water, and got a soap solution. Such things were used in the kitchen - and they still work.
"A lightweight brass device on a clip, similar to miniature glasses"
This is a magnifying glass that attaches to glasses and allows you to change the magnification level.
"Found this blue disk in a bag of chips with sour cream. It has some writing on it"
This is a test chip. It goes through metal detectors to make sure they work.
