Stunning hand ballet at the closing of the Tokyo Paralympic Games
An impressive choreographic performance took place as part of the closing ceremony of the Tokyo Paralympic Games. French choreographer Sadek Waff presented a stunning "ballet of the hands" - a synchronized dance of the hands, which involved 126 performers in wheelchairs.
French choreographer Sadek Waff presented a stunning "hand ballet" as part of the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games in Tokyo. The performance began with the appearance of Oxandre Pecou, a 12-year-old boy who became the first person in France to receive a 3D-printed bionic arm. The music for the dance was written by Woodkid and performed by the National Orchestra of France.
The choreographer then performed a hand dance with 126 performers in wheelchairs, including both amateurs and professionals. The dance turned out to be perfectly synchronized and thought out to the smallest detail. At the end, the performers showed the numbers “2024” with their hands - as a symbol of the upcoming Paralympic Games in France.
This choreography by Waff is reminiscent of some of his other productions. In particular, in his project “Murmuration” the same hand movements as in this dance are visible. “Magic is everywhere, and the main thing is to understand how to look, feel and listen in silence. Like a cloud of birds in the sky, each person has his own individuality, but also an irreplaceable place in one whole,” the choreographer writes about the production.
