TERMINATOR - history of development (21 photos + text)
TERMINATOR is not just a movie, but an entire era.
Today, inspired by memories, I prepared this post. It shows the full range of Terminator models. Starting from combat vehicles and ending with the latest cybernetic organisms.

T-1
Originally designed and manufactured by humans as a promising tracked autonomous combat platform. Armed with two 7.62 mm six-barreled M134 Minigun machine guns from General Electric.
Structurally similar to the giant “hunter-killer” class tanks created in the future by the artificial intelligence of Skynet (perhaps Skynet used the design developments of people, as in the case of creating flying machines of the “hunter-killer” class. Both types of machines are found in the first two Terminator films " and "Terminator 2: Judgment Day")
In the film Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, several T-1s, reprogrammed by the T-X robot, along with prototype flying robots, participate in the destruction of the military command center that controls Skynet, thereby beginning the "rise of the machines".
T-70
T-200
Also known simply as the T-20, the T-200 represented Skynet's first humanoid Hunter Killer (HK). They were produced in quantities of thousands. In fact, they were the first Terminators. Production files for more advanced Terminators already existed in the Skynet database, but production of these projects could not be established on a full scale until Skynet had dominance on the surface of the Earth and access to resources. Therefore, the only model of android that Skynet could use to hunt humans on their own territory was the T-200 (before the introduction of intelligent human replicas known as the T-600 series).
T-300
Production date: Before 2016
Also known as simply Series 300, the T-300 was not actually humanoid, but it was bipedal and had very basic artificial intelligence, so it fits the description of a "humanoid killer hunter" (Terminator). It was a walking platform with weapons on two legs that could stand on one leg to perform certain tasks. The Resistance called him "The Predator". Standing 2.5 meters tall, it resembled a very angry giant chicken with a plasma weapon in its mouth. His intelligence was at the level of a dog, with the same rabid instincts. They were very good soldiers. Their function is primarily to serve as sentries, to hunt and eliminate people.
T-400
The T-400 series was a Skynet experiment that attempted to emulate the size, shape, range of motion, and agility of humans. Although it was not particularly efficient, the low cost of production allowed this robot to be built within 6 years. They were produced in large numbers, and were effectively a shock force in the ground forces, later being transferred to work in prisoner of war camps, where some older models were still in existence during the Great Victory. Thanks to its low cost and low energy consumption, the series lasted a very long time.
T-500
Production date: 2020
This model was closer in appearance to a person than all the previous ones. Physically and much faster and more agile than previous Terminators. Capable of tactile dexterity and visual acuity similar to humans. It was the first Terminator with endoskeletons, and was therefore completely superior to its predecessor, the T-400. After its first deployment, the human population suffered enormous losses.
T-600
Production date: 2022
In theory, the T-600 should have surpassed Skynet's efficiency and tactical superiority. However, this did not happen. They were human in appearance and very intelligent. The T-600 chassis evolved from the T-500 series to resemble an actual human skeleton, and not just a rough approximation. This allowed the T-600 to be encased in latex rubber skin to appear human and infiltrate human camps. However, the skin was not realistic in appearance and often changed color to green or white due to external influences. Not a single T-600 had artificial muscles or facial expressions. It was possible to mistake him for a person only in the dark or at a distance, but Skynet succeeded in the element of surprise for a short time.
T-700
Manufactured date: 2024 – 2026.
The T-700 is often confused with the T-800, but it was actually just an android encased in lifeless skin. He was the first and very successful humanoid robot. Good latex skin, muscles, facial expressions. The T-700 had an improved database of human behavior and etiquette, as well as a realistic and pleasant voice. But the central processor was limited compared to the previous series, due to many software bugs and glitches. However, this did not stop him from portraying a person perfectly. Unlike its predecessor, the T-700 was a very effective agent and hunter. It was later replaced by the T-800 series with more advanced hydraulics.
T-800
T-800 (Cybernetic Agent)
Production date: 2026 (T-800)
Production date: 2028 (T-850)
The most famous terminator model. Skynet has developed infiltration robots to detect enemy fortifications, penetrate and destroy everyone in them. The T-800, the eighth in the line of infiltrator aircraft, was an ideal vehicle for fighting groups of people in confined spaces. The early T-600 series had rubber skin; terminators were easily identified and destroyed as they approached the bases. The T-800 retained the metal endoskeleton inherent in all models of the series, and now has living human skin, hair, and even bad breath from the mouth. The T-800 has superhuman strength, can perfectly copy voices, is capable of learning, driving vehicles and using any known weapon. His database contains absolute knowledge of human anatomy, making him the perfect killer. The T-800 series is equipped with infrared vision. The human design of the T-800 was based on the appearance of US Army Sergeant Candy.
T-900
Production Date: 2028
Skynet, designed the T-900 with the intention of ending the Terminator series.
The T-900 has very human contours and could easily be disguised in human clothing. The T-900 was roughly twice as powerful and faster than the T-800. Unlike the T-600 and T-800, the T-900 is protected by armor. The T-900 includes a miniature plasma reactor. Sometimes light leaked from cracks in the armor. This made him vulnerable to enemy fire, because. showed weak spots in the armor.
T-1000
The first and only example in the series. The T-1000 was made of liquid metal and could take almost any shape. He had the ability to copy the appearance of living organisms with which he came into direct contact. It could not transform into complex mechanical devices or explosive devices, but it could transform body parts into sharp metal objects - knives, blades, needles, etc. Copying and maintaining the shape required large amounts of energy, so the T-1000 constantly returned to its original appearance. The part torn from it sought to merge with the main mass. In essence, each T-1000 molecule was a nanomechanism with intelligence. T-1000 molecules found each other within a radius of up to 14 kilometers. The T-1000 had weaknesses - for example, extreme instability to high and low temperatures.
T-X
The T-X combined the endoskeleton features of the T-800 and the liquid metal surface of the T-1000. This model could change appearance through contact with the victim. Equipped with a number of built-in weapons that were removed from the hands. T-X was able to “inject” nanomachines into other devices and gain complete control over them. The Terminatrix was designed to destroy other terminators that had been reprogrammed by humans. Only one T-X is known to exist.
