Wild otters as exotic pets

It turns out that cats and otters can be friends, and this cute video demonstrates it perfectly.

The friendship between a cat and an otter, unlikely in the wild, is quite possible at home, and the kids in the video below demonstrate this perfectly when they cuddled together and went to bed to sleep. This adorable footage of an otter named Sakura and a cat Mochi sleeping together was filmed in Japan.

Pet owner Mako said he bought 3-year-old Sakura in 2018, but says this is the first time the otter and cat have decided to cuddle.

In the video, the otter carefully lays down to sleep next to the cat, using it as a soft feather bed, while the animal, before yawning sweetly, completely embraces its companion in order to lie down as comfortably as possible.

To the credit of the cat, it is worth saying that she is absolutely normal about this kind of pranks on the part of the mustelidae, practically not reacting to the fact that in this case she is used as a mattress or pillow. Most likely, an animal with red fur also gets a kind of buzz from this.

Mako shared the video on social media on July 18, captioning it: “They finally cuddled and started sleeping.”

Admittedly, not everyone approves of the craze for otters as pets. Thus, the non-profit organization “Traffic” warns that eastern clawless otters are specially caught in the wild in order to later export them to Japan.

“Unfortunately, the main factor is their attractiveness. These animals are very, very popular,” said Kanitha Krishnasamy, director of the Southeast Asia branch.

The natural habitat of these otters is mangrove swamps and freshwater wetlands of South and Southeast Asia.
