Wildlife photographer Alexander Ley, 27, captured the furious fight between a hungry jaguar and an otter defending its young.
Wildlife photographer Alexander Ley, traveling through the wilderness of Brazil's Pantanal tectonic trench, captured a cunning predator hunting an otter pup.
The hungry jaguar took advantage of the moment and grabbed the cub on land. But the mother otter noticed the predator, which released its prey during the chase.
According to the photographer, who did not specify the further fate of the cub, the Brazilian otters, which had recently settled in a new den near the river bank, attracted the attention of a hungry jaguar, which has one of the most powerful jaws among representatives of the cat family.
