Doctors at a hospital in the Mexican city of Monterrey lined up like a guard of honor, seeing off the body of one-and-a-half-year-old Alonda Torres Arias on its final journey to the autopsy room. After a child was diagnosed with brain death while dying of pneumonia, the girl's parents decided to donate her organs for transplantation to help children who could still be saved.

Alondra Torres Arias died of pneumonia at the age of 1 year 7 months. Her parents agreed to donate her organs to other children in need of transplants. The doctors at the hospital where the girl died decided to pay her their last debt of respect and gratitude. The video shows how the doctors escorting the girl, as the gurney approaches, fold their hands in a prayerful gesture, as if saying goodbye and thanking her.

Alondra's mother, Jenny Barraza, posted a farewell letter to her daughter on social media. "She may have left us a few days earlier, but I talked to her and kissed her until the last minute." Jenny says she was shocked to see the hallway filled with doctors and nurses saying goodbye to her daughter.

“They stood along the entire corridor, silently, with their hands folded in a prayer gesture,” says Jenny Barraza. “I have never felt so proud. Then we went into the operating room, where I said goodbye to my baby.”

Jenny said she takes comfort in the knowledge that Alondra's organs saved the lives of three other children, meaning her death was not in vain.
