This newborn squirrel was left behind by its mother, and kind people raised it to be a real cutie (11 photos)
A New York woman found a pile of branches on her bed containing newborn squirrels. She was not at a loss and immediately turned to a girl who rehabilitates orphaned squirrels. The rescuer's name is Christina Reis and she has been helping animals since 2008. Christina and her husband Michael began to care for the babies, but, unfortunately, only one of the squirrels was able to survive.
Newborn squirrels were found on a bed on the tenth floor of a New York apartment.
The owner of the apartment turned to Christina Reis for help, since she has been rehabilitating orphaned squirrels since 2008
Christina and her husband Michael began to care for the tiny squirrels, but, unfortunately, they were able to save only one
The surviving squirrel was so small that it fit inside a walnut shell. That's why they decided to call her Thumbelina.
Thumbelina has grown up and the time has come to release her into the wild, but the couple could not part with this baby
They tried to take Thumbelina to the park, but she felt very uncomfortable there. Seeing other squirrels, she curled up into a ball and did not want to contact them.
They loved the squirrel so much that they even started calling her their child.
Thumbelina loves to sleep with her owners
And wear cute hats
Sometimes she gets mischievous, chews wires and tries to get into the refrigerator
By the way, Thumbelina no longer lives up to her name, because she has exceeded the weight limit. Apparently, she finally made it to the refrigerator. The owners put her on a strict diet consisting of cabbage and greens.
Christina believes that squirrels deserve love and care no less than other pets.
Thumbelina is very lucky that she fell into such caring hands of this married couple. They came out to her, and she thanks them for this with her love. Christina and Mike proved that it's not just dogs and cats that make great pets.
