One meeting on the beach forever changed two lives - a human and a kitten (10 photos)

This man never considered himself a cat lover. But everything changed when a little furball burst into his life.

Meet Nala and her human dad!

Mark Nelson found a tiny kitten without its mother in the province of Aklan, Philippines.

“I stopped by a neighbor’s house and his daughter started telling me how she saw two dogs attacking some kittens on the beach,” Mark recalls.

She drove the dogs away as soon as she could, but by this time only one cub remained alive. He escaped.

“I asked her to show me the place where it happened, and she took me to a public beach covered with wild coconut trees. It was already pretty dark, so it took me a while to find the kitten, but then I heard meowing.”

“She was such a little thing. The skinny tabby easily fit in the palm of my hand,” says Mark.

He waited on the beach for several hours, hoping to see the mother cat, but saw no sign of her presence.

“I wrapped Nala in a towel and took her to my other neighbor, who had just recently raised a kitten. She handed me an old box and some baby cat food and gave me feeding tips. Then we returned home and my first night as a cat daddy began,” says Mark.

The man was taking care of a newborn for the first time, so he enlisted the help of friends who were more experienced in this matter.

“I would never have thought that you need to be able to do so many things! Starting from choosing the right food, going to the veterinarian and toilet matters, ending with washing the fur and treatment for parasites. You also need to arrange a comfortable bed and a place to play, and don’t forget to show your love every second,” says the man.

Now Nala is a healthy 8-week-old kitten, she was treated for worms and received her first vaccinations. The girl has already gotten the hang of eating solid food and is in a consistently playful mood.

“When I'm around, I try to play with her as often as I can, and she makes me smile every time. In the mornings I wake up to Nala licking and lightly biting my ears. And she herself loves to fall asleep on my chest or shoulders. This is cool!"
