Island in Tasmania requires couple to live there for free for 6 months (5 photos)
A message appeared on the Facebook page of one of the Australian environmental organizations with a very unusual proposal. She invites couples to live for six months completely free of charge on Matsayker Island (off the southern coast of Tasmania). But this incredibly generous offer had several important nuances.
The Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service announced on its Facebook page the opening of a new vacancy - Matsiker Island ranger. Couples in a “strong relationship” who are willing to spend six months alone on the island are invited to take on the role. The work is not paid, but the company provides volunteers with housing for the entire duration of their stay and provides transportation from the island. Tasmania round trip.
Volunteers will be required to look after the island and several buildings and prepare weather reports. The six-month contract will run from September to March.
Judging by how many likes and reposts the advertisement with a job description received on Facebook, for thousands of people this is the ideal job. But it turned out that there are several nuances. Firstly, the couple will have to live on the island without leaving it for six months. You can only get there by helicopter, and emergency evacuation is only possible in an emergency.
Secondly, despite the fact that volunteers are provided with a four-room apartment of a former lighthouse keeper free of charge, they will have to bring everything else themselves.
Clothing, other necessary supplies and food for the entire stay. The luggage weight limit is 325 kilograms per person. And the couple will be able to grow fresh food in the garden.
In addition, there is no internet, TV or other people on the island.
It is very important that the two who end up on the island together can work with each other.
You can apply for the position of caretaker on the organization’s website; applications are accepted until January 30, 2017.
