The driver tried to save the car and drove to the nearest service station. He and the service station workers first tried to put out the BMW X5 with fire extinguishers, but the flames quickly engulfed the entire car.
Firefighters who arrived at the scene quickly put out the BMW crossover, but it burned out completely and could not be restored. Several other cars parked in the service station parking lot were also damaged.
The third-generation BMW crossover, which was produced from 2013 to 2018, burned down. This model was equipped with 3.0 and 4.4 liter gasoline engines, as well as 2.0 and 3.0 liter turbodiesels. Some engines (in particular, the 4.4-liter and 2.0-liter diesel) are quite sensitive to overheating. The causes of the fire are currently being determined.
