Decommissioned metro cars (4 photos)

Subway cars of type "D" were mass-produced in 1955-1963. Operated in the Moscow Metro until 1995.

In Moscow, type D cars were operated on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya, Filevskaya, Koltsevaya, Kirovsko-Frunzenskaya (now Sokolnicheskaya) and Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya lines. In 1960, the Moscow Metro had 242 type D cars in its inventory, and in 1984 - 473. Initially, the cars arrived on the Kirovsko-Frunzenskaya, Koltsevaya and Filevskaya lines. In the mid-1960s, type D cars were transferred from the Severnoye depot (Kirovsko-Frunzenskaya line) to the Fili depot (Filyovskaya line) and Izmailovo depot (Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line). In the mid-late 1970s, rolling stock was replaced on the Circle Line and type D cars were transferred to the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line. In the mid-1980s, the process of gradually decommissioning type D cars and replacing them with more modern ones began. In 1992, type D cars were excluded from the inventory of the Fili depot (Filyovskaya line) and the only line on which the remaining cars continued to operate was Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya, where the last two trains were decommissioned in 1995.

Since 1976, type D cars in Moscow operated only in two depots - Izmailovo and Fili. As of 1984, the Mosmetropolitan inventory included 473 D cars. As of 1988-1990, only trains of D type cars operate at the Izmailovo depot and the fleet is quite stable. Trains from cars E arrive at the Fili metro depot, and cars D are written off en masse.

In Moscow, there are practically no type D carriages preserved; only one type UM5 carriage operates as a laboratory. The remains of some cars can be seen near the territory of the Izmailovo depot.
