Belgian Zoo Unveils Hotel Rooms with Up-Close Views of Wild Animals (14 Photos)
Belgium's Pairi Daiza zoo is now offering guests the chance to stay in extraordinary hotel rooms overlooking the habitats and pools of walruses, polar bears, and sea lions, as well as tigers, wolves, and bears.
Located in Cambron-Casteau, Pairi Daiza Zoo and Botanical Garden has introduced one-of-a-kind resort accommodations. Right from their rooms, guests can immerse themselves in the daily lives of the park's residents—from walruses, polar bears, penguins, and sea lions gliding through underwater pools to tigers, wolves, and bears roaming their enclosures.
The resort features freestanding lodges and luxury suites, but the star attraction is the underwater suites in "The Land of the Cold," which peer directly into the walrus and polar bear pools.
Massive panoramic windows offer breathtaking vantage points. A two-day, one-night stay in one of these rooms runs around €130 per person.
The glass is specially treated and cleaned weekly to maintain crystal-clear visibility. The animals themselves seem just as fascinated by their human neighbors, frequently swimming up to interact through the glass.
Founded in 1994, Pairi Daiza is home to around 5,000 animals representing more than 600 species.
The park is an active member of both the European and World Associations of Zoos and Aquariums, taking part in a range of scientific breeding and conservation programs dedicated to protecting endangered species.
