Hungry bear raids farmers' market and grabs a pastry
A hungry bear barged into a Colorado farmers market and gorged on freshly baked bread before authorities chased it away.
Eyewitnesses captured video of the bear wandering into the Aspen Saturday Market during setup and taking pastries from the Louis Swiss booth.
The published video shows the bear leisurely eating fresh pastries as people walk around it and film the animal.
Meanwhile, Colorado Parks and Wildlife spokesperson Joey Livingston stated that Aspen police pursued the bear until a wildlife officer arrived at the scene.
The bear then climbed a nearby tree and eventually left the area on its own.
According to officials, extreme drought has led to a record number of bear encounters this year due to a lack of natural food sources. The animals are currently especially active as they gain weight for winter hibernation.
