Authentic 1992 Batmobile set to fetch record sum at auction (5 photos)

Batman Returns
is heading to the open market. The screen-used car has been estimated by auctioneers to fetch between $5 million and $7 million. If it meets expectations, it will become the most expensive Bruce Wayne vehicle in history.
The Batmobiles featured in Tim Burton’s films are famous for their unique design, blending classic hot rod aesthetics with Art Deco influences. Auctioneers consider it one of the most iconic symbols of a gritty Gotham City.
Underneath, the screen-used car is built on two fused Chevrolet Impala frames and driven by a fully functional V8 engine paired with a three-speed automatic transmission.
According to CarBuzz, the title of the most expensive Batman vehicle is currently held by the car from the original 1966 TV series, created by renowned customizer George Barris. It sold at auction in 2013 for $4.62 million.
