In Argentina, a student landed a plane alone after her instructor ejected mid-flight.
In Argentina, 42-year-old flight instructor Leandro Bertazzo died after opening the door of a light aircraft and ejecting during a training flight. According to a 22-year-old student flying with him, the instructor calmly removed his headset, carefully folded his personal belongings, unbuckled his seatbelt, and told her, "You know what to do. Go ahead." He then ejected.
The girl remained alone at the controls, transmitted a distress signal, and managed to land the plane at the airfield. The school reported that the landing was flawless, despite the shock she experienced. The instructor's body was later found in a field near the scene. According to local authorities, suicide is the primary theory. The man's relatives reported that he had been undergoing treatment for mental health issues, but his colleagues were unaware of this. ![]()
