The Sagrada Familia was opened and consecrated in Barcelona—the world-famous building took nearly 150 years to build! The ceremony, attended by Pope Leo XIV, took place 100 years after the death of architect Antoni Gaudí, who "saw" the completion of his life's work—drones arranged in the shape of Gaudí's face.
Construction dragged on for 144 years due to funding issues—it was supposed to be built solely with donations, which were unstable. Then, in 1926, Gaudí died, and 10 years later, his plans were destroyed during the Civil War. The craziest part: despite all the main elements being completed, construction will continue for almost another 10 years—the façade and staircase integration will take until 2034.
