An unusual public restroom with panoramic windows overlooking a picturesque bay was built on the island of Andøya in Norway. The project reportedly cost around 20 million kroner (over $2 million), with the goal of creating "the most beautiful restroom in the world." However, the facility was soon forced to close when it was discovered its windows overlooked a nearby airbase. Authorities deemed this a potential security threat and decided to restrict access to the structure. Originally conceived as a tourist attraction, the project unexpectedly found itself at the center of a dispute between aesthetics and secrecy requirements. Ultimately, the picturesque view gave way to concerns about national security.
