In South Korea, a robot has been dedicated Buddhists
The Unitree G1 robot participated in an initiation ceremony at a Buddhist temple in Seoul. It "promised" not to harm people or robots.
A robot monk has appeared at a South Korean temple.
The 130-centimeter robot, dressed in traditional Buddhist robes, underwent an initiation ceremony and was given the name "Gabi."
It also participated in a ritual in which monks pledge their allegiance to Buddha, his teachings, and the monastic community. Robots have never participated in such events at South Korean temples before.
"Gabi" prayed alongside other Buddhists; footage shows it clasping its palms together.
The five Buddhist precepts were even reinterpreted for the robot. It must protect life, not harm other robots, obey humans, not lie, and use energy sparingly.
