The Soviet Krechet Spacesuit Is Up for Sale on the International eBay Marketplace (7 photos)

The extremely rare spacesuit is valued at $350,000. But what's even more surprising is how a US resident could acquire such an exclusive item. Moreover, he also has a more recent spacesuit, which was allegedly flown in 2019.





An interesting seller has been discovered on the international marketplace eBay, selling artifacts from the Soviet era (and beyond). One of the most interesting lots is the Krechet spacesuit, developed in the late 1960s and intended for Soviet cosmonauts to land on the moon. However, the lunar program was canceled, and the suits, of which only 3-5 were produced, were no longer needed.

The seller is asking $350,000 for the Krechet and promises free shipping for US residents. The listing states that the suit remained at the Zvezda plant when the Soviet lunar program was canceled in 1972 and fell into private hands in the 2000s. The seller does not explain how it came into his possession.



Although the Krechet was never used by cosmonauts, it became the basis for the modern Orlan spacesuits.

In addition to the Krechet, the seller's collection also includes a Sokol (KV-2) emergency rescue spacesuit, valued at $65,000. It is claimed to have been flown into space in 2019.

In addition to the spacesuits, the seller also offers a large number of "space artifacts" from the Soviet era. These include T-shirts, overalls, and jackets worn by famous cosmonauts, newspapers from 1961, photographs of Gagarin with his personal signature, and much more.





For those less interested in space, there's something equally historically important—for example, a 1919 document signed by Lenin ($15,000), a handwritten letter from Grigory Rasputin ($22,000), and dozens of similar items. Where the seller got such a rich collection remains a mystery.
