Granted, these weren't actual dinosaurs, but people in various costumes, but the spectacle was still quite impressive, as 682 people participated. The university's athletic teams are known as "Dinos," hence the choice of costumes.
Ed McCauley, the university's president, called the amusing gathering of dinosaurs an excellent example of how people can unite to achieve a common goal. In this case, the goal was a world record, and a representative from Guinness World Records, who was present, confirmed that the record for the largest number of people dressed in dinosaur costumes had been broken.
