Giulio Kutsila, an Australian from South Wales, decided to create a stuffed owl to keep magpies away from his house. But something went wrong – the papier-mâché creation started attracting the birds.
Giulio says he was getting fed up with the magpies. He read that they were afraid of stuffed owls. But those were too expensive, so he decided to make something similar himself – out of papier-mâché and feathers.
"I don't know, it didn't really look like an owl, more like a dead cat," he says.
The magpies, however, behave rather strangely around the stuffed owl – they gather around it and make a peculiar gurgling sound.
