A Formula One-Style Sports Car Will Be Released on Public Roads (8 photos)

American startup Ryn Motors is developing an unusual sports car that resembles a scaled-down Formula 1 car and will be powered by a superbike engine. Despite the FP3's exotic appearance, it is planned to be road-legal thanks to an equally exotic design solution: the sports car will have only one rear wheel.





Ryn Motors plans to sell the base version of the FP3 as a tricycle, allowing it to comply with more lenient regulations. At the same time, the drive unicycle can be replaced with a full two-wheel axle at any time after purchase for an additional fee.

The formula-style body, made of composite materials, weighs just over half a ton. At the same time, its aerodynamic wings, according to the developers, will generate approximately 320 kilograms of downforce.

A 1340cc Suzuki Hayabusa engine was chosen as the power unit for FP3. In the most affordable configuration, it produces 210 hp, revving to 10,500 rpm. For the more expensive version, the engine is boosted to 290 hp. Both versions are paired with a six-speed manual transmission and are expected to accelerate to 100 km/h in under three seconds.

This unusual sports car is priced at a minimum of $78,500, with the first production units scheduled to begin delivery in November of this year.
