NVIDIA Announces DLSS 5 — a New Version of the Upscaler Combines Regular Graphics and Generative AI (7 photos + video)
NVIDIA announced DLSS 5, a new version of the upscaler that combines traditional graphics with generative AI. The developers promise that the technology will increase resolution to 4K and deliver smooth gameplay without putting a heavy load on hardware. The release is scheduled for fall.
How it will work:
- The feature works out of the box with any game;
- The neural network redraws the image in real time directly on top of the native visuals – it completely changes lighting, shadows, highlights, textures, and character models;
- The upscaler can boost graphics to photorealism even on a terrible engine;
- The result is mixed – in some places the result is beautiful, while in others it's downright neural network bloat, making the scene look completely different.
