The racket-tailed hummingbird (Loddigesia mirabilis) is a rare species of hummingbird, known for its unique "racket" feathers. Males have two long tail feathers with purple "vanes" at the tips. During the courtship dance, the male shakes these feathers to attract the female.
The birds inhabit the mountain slopes of the Utcubamba River basin.
