Rare dust devils in Los Angeles: nature in motion

Rare dust devils, visible thanks to tumbleweeds, appear from time to time in the Los Angeles foothills. Under normal conditions, they are almost transparent, but dry vegetation transforms them into dense, moving columns.
The sun heats the soil, causing the air to rise and swirl due to pressure changes. Despite their visual prowess, the whirlwinds are weaker than true tornadoes and quickly dissipate, leaving behind only piles of dry branches.
