In Turkey, a dog was rescued that almost drowned during a powerful flood.
Torrential rains in Turkey have led to severe flooding. One neighborhood in Alanya was inundated by the Dimçay River, which overflowed its banks. Residents were trapped and forced to wait on the rooftops for rescuers. A large restaurant located on the riverbank was completely submerged.
The Köprüçay River also overflowed its banks, inundating farmland and several buildings. Local residents struggled to evacuate their livestock, and municipal services rescued 27 dogs from a shelter that was also flooded at the last minute.
Footage of the dramatic rescue of a dog has gone viral on social media: the animal placed its paws on a roof, which was being engulfed by torrential waters. Two people struggled to pull the heavy dog into its shelter.
