Genesis Builds an Off-Road Concept with an 1100-HP V8 (9 photos)
Genesis, the premium division of Hyundai, has been actively showcasing various concepts lately, from the luxury G90 Wingback station wagon to the Magma GT supercar. And it looks like the Korean company isn't stopping there. An unusual SUV called the X Skorpio was unveiled in the Rub' al-Khali desert in the UAE.
The car is a concept and has no commercial potential yet, but it is fully functional. It is built around a space frame with a racing-standard safety cage. The body panels are made of carbon fiber and Kevlar, and the prototype rides on 40-inch off-road tires on 18-inch wheels.
Inside, the designers envision a sporty minimalism, but with a touch of luxury. The driver and passenger sit in bucket seats with multi-point seatbelts, and the dashboard is trimmed in quilted leather and Alcantara. The latter can also be found on the special grab handles on the center console. A sporty digital instrument cluster is mounted directly on the steering wheel, and another display with the navigation system is located in front of the passenger.

Details about the powertrain are limited. All that's known is that under the hood is a V8 producing an impressive 1,100 hp and 1,152 Nm. It's not known whether the engineers achieved this power output using a hybrid superstructure or limited themselves to large turbochargers.
