The Ganges River near its source in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is one of the deepest and longest rivers in South Asia. Along with the Brahmaputra, it ranks third in the world in terms of water flow, after the Amazon and the Congo. For the most part, it is a typical lowland river with a slow and placid current.
