In China, a humanoid robot set a world record on a treadmill. The android was able to reach speeds of up to 10 meters per second.
The Chinese unveiled a humanoid robot that is the fastest runner of its kind in existence. It can run at speeds of up to 10 meters per second, according to developers from the Science and Technology Innovation Center at Zhejiang University.
"The Hangzhou International Science and Technology Innovation Center at Zhejiang University officially unveiled the full-size humanoid robot Bolt. With a running speed of 10 meters per second, it is the fastest robot in the world today," the statement read.
The robot was named Bolt, after the record-breaking Jamaican track and field athlete Usain Bolt. His world records are 9.58 seconds in the 100 meters and 19.19 seconds in the 200 meters.
The robot was developed in collaboration with Shanghai-based MirrorMe Tech and Zhejiang-based Kaierda. The developers plan to continue improving the robot and expand its applications, including service and manufacturing.
