In China, they're testing an effective way to combat icing on power lines

China is testing an effective method for de-icing power lines: drones are now being deployed to high-altitude sites in the Hubei and Shanxi provinces instead of humans. The drones use a dual-use de-icing method: a unique gripping mechanism simultaneously vibrates and cuts the ice with special blades.

This approach is 60% faster than previous methods, which required workers to manually clear ice from a height of 100 meters. This represents a significant advancement in infrastructure maintenance: drones easily clear even thick layers of ice that threaten the stability of the power grid, while completely eliminating the risk to workers.
