She mistook a 3D-printed figurine for a Buddha statue.
A Manila resident spent four years praying and offering incense to a green statue, sincerely believing it to be an image of Buddha. In reality, it was a 3D-printed figurine of the famous cartoon ogre, Shrek.
It all started four years ago in an ordinary store in the capital of the Philippines. The woman saw a round green figurine with a kind expression and decided it was indeed Buddha.
She placed her purchase on her home altar with great respect. Every day, she lit incense, prayed, and asked for blessings.
At one time, these figurines were ironically produced in the thousands; it's a popular joke in Asia.
One day, a friend came to visit. He immediately noticed that the figurine's color and facial features were strangely different from classical images of Buddha.
After a closer inspection, all doubts disappeared—before them stood a recognizable 3D-printed Shrek figurine. At first, the woman was speechless with surprise. Then she burst into laughter, along with everyone else present.
According to her, the most important thing is the sincerity of the prayers and good intentions. Who exactly they are directed at isn't so important. Interestingly, the woman has no plans to part with the "green Buddha." She stated that she will continue to pray calmly to her unusual talisman.
Hello to everyone who didn't think he was "that old."
