An American woman played the lottery with just numbers for 40 years and hit the jackpot (2 photos)
The Pulaski County, Missouri, resident has been pushing her luck for four decades. She crossed out the same nine numbers on lottery tickets and finally won.
Her son checked the ticket at a retail store and was shocked to hear the good news. He immediately called his mother, unable to hide the fact that she had become $80,000 richer.
The winner decided to spend the money on buying a new car.
The main lottery prize was $30,000, but the woman made an additional "Bulls-Eye" bet and hit the jackpot.
Since the Missouri Lottery launched in 1986, the company has donated more than $8 billion to the state.
The lottery generated more than $7 billion in revenue in 2023, and more than $425 million of that went toward educational initiatives.
During the same period, Pulaski County players, who are fellow locals of the winner, won more than $9.5 million.
