A Buddha statue bringing good luck fell on workers
In Thailand, a gilded Buddha statue meant to bring good luck to temple visitors in Sisaket province has fallen on workers. The men tried to move her.
Saranyu Kanyamai, 40, and a colleague named Adisak moved a large gilded statue to prepare the temple grounds for a religious ceremony on Thursday, June 29. At some point, the “happy” Buddha leaned over, fell on them and crushed them.
Rescue services arrived at the scene around 3:20 p.m. and found that Adisak had suffered a severe leg injury. Kanyamai Buddha fell right on his chest, the doctors could no longer help the man.
Local residents said that there were not enough hands in the temple, and the workers had been working non-stop since early morning. Some believed that the fatal incident was due to the fatigue of Kanyamai and Adisaka. Parishioners also said that many years ago a similar incident happened in the temple when scaffolding collapsed on a worker.
