Norway's skies lit up with the most powerful aurora of the year. The phenomenon, usually modest in central latitudes, unfolded in all its glory this time, thanks to a frenzy of solar activity at the height of our star's 25th cycle. Astronomers note that such ideal conditions for the aurora in January haven't been seen for 11 years.
