In Birmingham, UK, the sky turned neon pink (6 photos + 1 video)
Residents of Birmingham, England, noticed an unusual pink-purple glow in the sky, which immediately blew up social media. Some captured the mystical scene on photos and videos, while others fanned a storm of theories: from the arrival of aliens and a new virus to a sign from God or the end of the world.
However, the reality turned out to be much more prosaic: the snow was reflecting light from a football stadium, where LED lighting was being used to accelerate the restoration of the pitch. The mysterious "pink northern light" turned out to be merely an effect of snow reflecting artificial lights, not a cosmic or mystical phenomenon.
