The Sparta Police Department (New Jersey, USA) reported on a rescue operation conducted by Patrolman Michael Poon.
The man donned special gear and went to a local lake to rescue a dog named Sankeys, who had fallen through the ice. Michael first crawled onto the icy surface and then dove into the water to pull out the wet and frozen dog.
Sankeys was successfully reunited with her owner, Chance Dobbs, who noted with dismay that the dog had always been restless, frequently escaping unsupervised. To combat such wanderings, Chance installed an electric fence around the house, but Sankeys somehow managed to find a breach in the security system, escaped, and nearly died.
