A Prankster Drowned a "Discobolus" with Squidward's Face Off the Coast of Greece (4 photos + 2 videos)
An online user using the pseudonym Sunday Nobody created a Greek sculpture with the face of Sigma Squidward from the cartoon "SpongeBob SquarePants." He then drowned the statue to puzzle future archaeologists.
To achieve this, the young man conducted an entire secret mission: having forged a student ID, he approached a real archaeologist to explain which materials best preserved statues. The choice fell on patinated bronze.
Next, Sunday Nobody set about making a "fossil." The guy came up with the idea of combining Squidward's meme-worthy face from SpongeBob SquarePants with the pose of the ancient Greek sculpture "Discobolus," and commissioned a Chinese factory to produce the statue for $25,000.
It was decided to drown Squidward in an unknown location off the coast of Greece—and at this point, the entire mission almost ended in failure, as the blogger and his assistants were spotted by other people. However, the strangers didn't inquire about what the group of guys on inflatable mattresses were doing, allowing Sunday Nobody to successfully complete their mission.
The blogger is confident that GeoGuessr experts will quickly discover Squidward's "burial site," but hopes the statue won't be moved and that the Greek government won't prosecute him for such a prank—despite the fact that installing anything on the seabed is considered somewhat illegal.
