The legendary McLaren F1 LM has found its spiritual successor. The first example of the Gordon Murray Special Vehicles S1 LM hypercar sold for a record $20,630,000. The car is powered by a 700-horsepower, naturally aspirated 6.0-liter Cosworth V12 engine that revs to 11,500 rpm.
The car's handover was a spectacular affair: the GMSV hypercar, suspended from a helicopter, flew past Las Vegas landmarks like the Sphere and the legendary New York-New York casino, landing at the Wynn Hotel just in time for the RM Sotheby's auction.
The new owner (name not yet disclosed) will receive not only the car itself but also a unique opportunity to participate in test drives with Dario Franchitti, three-time Indy champion. 500.
