After the actor's death, of course.
The family of renowned Hollywood actor Bruce Willis has decided to donate his brain for scientific research, according to the actor's wife, Emma Heming Willis, in her book, The Unexpected Journey, and subsequent interviews. In 2022, the actor was given a disappointing diagnosis: aphasia caused by frontotemporal dementia (FTD). This rare neurodegenerative disease affects the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain and causes a gradual deterioration of speech and cognitive functions. The patient loses recognition of others, has difficulty speaking, and gradually loses skills, habits, and abilities.
Frontotemporal dementia can also manifest in older patients, leading to serious impairments. However, the disease struck the actor at a relatively young age. Now 67, Willis requires constant care, and traditional diagnostic methods make it difficult to fully understand the processes occurring in the brain. Donating brain tissue will allow scientists to study the pathology more deeply, identify abnormalities and genetic changes, and help develop new treatments that could save lives in the future.

Bruce Willis's wife, Emma Heming-Willis, emphasized that this is not just a symbolic gesture, but a real contribution to science and hope for help for other families facing similar diseases.
It was previously reported that Willis had been moved to a separate home, where he is under 24-hour supervision by caregivers.
