How ropes are made: a 400-year-old craft preserved by Langman Ropes.

Founded in 1638, this European company specializes in braided ropes, using techniques that have remained virtually unchanged since the 17th century. Natural fibers—hemp, flax, sisal—as well as modern synthetic yarns are used as raw materials.

The material is first twisted into strands, then combined into thicker bundles and woven in a spiral under constant tension. Today, the process is controlled electronically, but the production principle remains the same as four centuries ago: the rope's strength stems from the precise interweaving of dozens of threads.
