One of the most beautiful and amazing places is located in Brazil, in the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park. The park boasts numerous sand dunes up to 40 meters high, with water sifting through them!
The thing is, during the rainy season, a large amount of rain falls here, and the water becomes so abundant that it simply doesn't have time to soak into the sand. Ultimately, numerous puddles, lakes, and lagoons form between the snow-white sand dunes. Water and sand, desert and life-giving moisture – here they peacefully coexist. It looks stunning!
In the 1980s, the area was designated a national park, and in 2024, it was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. It covers an area of over 1,500 square kilometers and is located along the Atlantic coast between three biomes: Cerrado, Caatinga, and Amazonia.
