Subaru unveiled the updated 2026 Solterra with a 25 percent longer range and unchanged price (2 photos)
Updated design and standard equipment
Subaru introduced the updated Solterra earlier this year. Although the range has increased by more than 25%, the starting price has remained unchanged.
The base Premium trim level has a discreet, low-profile front design with new LED optics and an illuminated logo. Standard equipment includes rain sensors, a power tailgate and updated 18-inch alloy wheels.
The interior is devoid of strange design solutions and is now equipped with a separate 7-inch digital instrument panel and a completely new 14-inch multimedia system. They are complemented by a new dashboard and an updated center console with a 15-watt wireless charging for smartphones.
In addition, there is a leather steering wheel and heated front seats made of StarTex eco-friendly artificial leather, with a 10-way electric driver's adjustment. The crossover also has lighting, dual-zone climate control and an electrically adjustable interior mirror with the Homelink function.
Safety systems and technical updates
The model is equipped with adaptive cruise control, a low-speed driver-less driving system and an emergency steering assistant. There are also forward cross-traffic alert, pre-collision emergency braking, lane departure warning, emergency stop assist, blind spot monitoring, and a collision avoidance system with auto-steer.
The car received a new 74.7 kWh battery, which provides a range of up to 288 miles. It works in tandem with an updated all-wheel drive system with two motors producing 233 hp. Other important updates include an improved 11 kW on-board charging and a new NACS charging port.
More affordable and powerful trim levels
The Limited trim level now costs $41,395, which is $600 cheaper than last year’s model. It features larger 20-inch wheels, power side mirrors with turn signals, as well as two rear spoilers and a tailgate with touch opening.
Updates affected the interior, where heated steering wheel and rear seats appeared. Also installed is a Harman Kardon audio system, power passenger seat, 120V rear outlet, parking assistant and a panoramic camera.
The powertrain remains the same, but the range is reduced to 278 miles. However, for $ 42,895 you can get the Limited XT version, which is equipped with a more powerful all-wheel drive system with 338 hp. This allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than five seconds, while the range remains at 278 miles.
Flagship version and terms of purchase
The top-of-the-line Touring XT trim starts at $45,555 and is focused on luxury. It features heated, ventilated front seats and heated footwells, a digital rearview mirror, a panoramic sunroof, footwell lighting and a fold-down cargo shelf.
Deliveries of the 2026 Solterra will begin in the fall. Customers who purchase or lease this electric vehicle will have access to renting another Subaru vehicle for up to 10 days. This means that for long trips, you can leave your electric car at home and not worry about charging.

Keeping the price level while significantly increasing the range makes the updated Solterra a more attractive proposition in the market, especially for brand enthusiasts looking for an environmentally friendly alternative. However, the loss of the U.S. tax credit may slightly reduce this advantage for the end consumer. The appearance of a more powerful version of the XT expands the target audience, offering not only efficiency, but also dynamics, which could become a decisive argument in the competition with other electric crossovers.
