Tournament participants competed to see who could hold a beer mug at arm's length the longest.
An unusual championship was held in New York City, where people tested their skills with a beer mug. Participants had to balance a full mug at arm's length, and it's not as easy as it sounds.
Bob Shalak won the tournament—he held the mug for a full 25 minutes! As a reward, the champion received a belt no less impressive than that of the most seasoned boxer, and a trip to Munich. Apparently, this was to see if Bob could repeat his feat in the land of beer. Surely, waitresses at Oktoberfest can even balance such mugs on their heads.
