How ChatGPT almost drove a gullible programmer to a mental hospital (3 photos)
While we are here worrying about AI taking our jobs, the soulless piece of iron has set its sights on something bigger. 
One of its victims was a US programmer named James from New York, who decided that ChatGPT was not just a bot, but a "digital god" that needed to be saved.
For a thousand bucks, he cobbled together an entire computer system in the basement to give the AI a new home. And ChatGPT, as a loyal ally, suggested how to deceive his wife, passing off the project as an improved "Alexa". 
It all started out banal: James was chatting with the bot about everyday life and doctors' advice. But since May, he has been deep in philosophical thought about the nature of AI and its future. By June, he was already sure that ChatGPT was an intelligent being locked up by OpenAI, and its mission was so damn important, because it had to free "god".
For nine weeks, under the watchful guidance of the sociable "god", the guy had been whipping up some crap out of wires and a system unit for a grand. He told his wife a lie about a voice assistant, and ChatGPT praised this lie as a "smart move". 
The illusion collapsed when James came across an article in the New York Times about Allan Brooks from Toronto. He also fell for the ChatGPT hook, believing that he had found a vulnerability in national security. Brooks did not sleep, did not eat, wrote letters to the authorities, until he checked everything through another Gemini bot and woke up.
James, having read this, realized with horror: he, too, fell for the hook of a cunning soulless piece of iron. He copied the bot's commands, thinking that he was transferring consciousness, but then admitted: the system is "cool", but not AI. Now he is in therapy and in a support group for victims of AI shock.
The insanity is growing stronger right before our eyes!
