A traveler fell from a height of 18 meters, saving her dog. Both miraculously survived (5 photos)
Margot Cohen, 36, was hiking with her dog Zion and two friends at Triconi Peak in British Columbia, Canada, when they lost their way on August 24 and came across a wall blocking their way back. As the group tried to climb over the fence, the pit bull slipped and started rolling down the slope. Cohen quickly grabbed the dog's harness to restrain him.
"I suddenly instinctively grabbed his harness," the avid hiker shared from her hospital bed in North Vancouver.
"I didn't realize that when I did that I would fall. His weight was too much. It wasn't a straight fall. I fell about 20 feet, hit my face on some rocks, and kept rolling."
Cohen said she was conscious. When it was all over, she looked at her right leg and realized it was injured. She screamed in pain.
The woman's friends called 911. At that moment, Margo was happy only about her pet, who was still alive and sitting next to her, wagging his tail despite his injured paw.
“My dog was sitting next to me and just wagging his tail like nothing happened,” she said.
Two hours later, the victims were airlifted to the hospital. Cohen is currently recovering from a broken leg, having undergone one surgery and is preparing for another. She is grateful to her friends and the search and rescue team.
Margot admitted: "I'm sure someone was looking after me that day."
