So they came up with a "standing" policeman. But will this scarecrow work on people?
Cyberpunk is getting closer: a life-size holographic policeman has been installed in Jiudong Park in the center of the capital of South Korea, writes the publication Oddity Cenrtal. The experiment is aimed at reducing the crime rate.
It is noted that the three-dimensional digital policeman is on duty from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily in any weather. The hologram reads a pre-recorded text that in the event of violence and other illegal actions, the police will respond in real time.
The police officer hologram was installed back in October last year. And it was only now that people started talking about it because the police announced the first positive results of the experiment. According to the Zhongbu District Police Station, the crime rate in the park area has decreased by 22%. The police, despite the fact that the hologram is not capable of detaining criminals, consider it an effective deterrent and increases the feeling of security among citizens.
“We will expand such initiatives using AI to create an environment in parks where people feel safe,” said Jungbu Police Station Chief Ahn Dong-hyun.
