There was a man, and there is no man (3 photos)
He just disappeared into obscurity in one day.
Three weeks have passed, and there is still no news. This is the story of a friend of mine, whose grandmother left the house early in the morning (she lived separately) and did not return. The fact that she was missing was discovered only in the evening, all relatives and friends were immediately involved - but to no avail. Using cameras in the city, they were able to track her path from the house to the road towards the river, and then that's it. No leads.
Volunteers and the police joined the search - also no information. Morgues and hospitals are called every day - nothing. The person simply disappeared into space.
A few years ago, this grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. At first, there were the slightest signs of dementia, which worsened over time. Due to the disease, she usually did not go further than the store near her home, and then only with her son, but apparently on that fateful day, something went wrong.
Honestly, we all think about what happened every day. Where we did not keep an eye, where we did not pay attention. A friend blames himself in many ways. We try to provide him with maximum support.
I read a lot about this topic now, it turns out that about 55 million people in the world are susceptible to this disease. There is no medicine that can completely cure this disease. But not long ago, our scientists created a drug that in the future will be able to defeat dementia.
The new drug affects one of the systems in the hippocampus, which is the first to be damaged in dementia. The drug was tested on mice and their memory began to work better, neural connections were formed, impaired motor skills and sensitivity of the limbs improved. And although it will take a few more years to conduct the tests, the prospects are already very good. God willing, everything will work out.
Who is familiar with this trouble firsthand?
