Damned Egoist: Overweight Man Forced Out of Plane to Finally Take Off

The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 25, on board a Thai Lion Air Boeing 737 at Bangkok Airport. A passenger in an orange T-shirt complained to flight attendants about the lack of space in his window seat and insisted on being moved to a seat near the emergency exit, where there was more legroom.

When the crew refused to satisfy his demand, the man made a scene and the police had to be called. Footage from a video taken by one of the passengers shows law enforcement officers trying to remove the offender from the plane.

"At first I thought we couldn't take off because the man felt ill. It turned out he simply thought that the economy class seat was too cramped and insisted on being moved to the emergency exit," an eyewitness said.

During the conflict, the man lay down on the floor in the aisle. The police had to carry him in their arms.

Passengers were outraged by the delay. The recording shows the British woman calling the offender a "bloody selfish person", and her fellow passengers backed her up by telling the hooligan to "get out of the way".

The flight eventually took off about an hour after the scheduled time. Thai Lion Air has not yet commented on the incident.
